The 10th-ranked Case Western Reserve University softball team defeated Carnegie Mellon University 6-1 on Friday afternoon in the first game of a four-game series at Mather Park in Cleveland. With the win, Spartans improved to 29-5 on the season and 14-3 in University Athletic Association contests.
