Payne Named Top Freshman; Cowboys Place Fourth at ASC Championship

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons’ men’s track and field team placed fourth at the 2024 American Southwest Conference Championships on Saturday at McMurry. Davare Payne was named the ASC Freshman of the Year after a stellar meet. Payne set a new school record with a 14.26 in the 110 hurdles to win the event. Payne was second in the triple jump with a 46-10 ¼. He placed second in the long jump on Friday. Javarian Belcha placed sixth in the 100 with a 10.77.
