Riverside girls lacrosse falls to powerhouse Bishop England in state championship game

COLUMBIA – Riverside’s run in the high school girls lacrosse playoffs came to an end against South Carolina’s powerhouse program. Bishop England dominated Saturday’s Class AAAA state championship game at Irmo High School and beat Riverside, 22-2. It was such a commanding lead by halftime that there was a running clock throughout the second half at W.C. Hawkins Stadium. The Lady Bishops (19-0) have won six state championships in the past seven years, the only miss being left out of the playoffs last year because of an ineligible player.
