Saxons Sweep Houghton in Delayed Doubleheader

HOUGHTON, NY – The Alfred University softball team piled 23 runs on Houghton University while only giving up two in 12 innings of play on Saturday evening, after rain showers pushed the Empire 8 start time back two hours. The Saxons (22-12, 10-2 Empire 8) initiated the mercy-rule in the fifth inning of the first game against the Highlanders (10-22-1, 2-10) by scoring eight runs, making the final score 14-0 in favor of the visiting Saxons.
