Cherry Creek advances in girls team tennis tournament

Cherry Creek senior Anika Sharma keeps improving with each tennis match she plays. On April 29, Sharma defeated Fairview’s Stella Laird, 6-1, 6-1, in a No. 1 singles match during a quarterfinal match in the Colorado High School Association girls team state tournament. Cherry Creek won all four doubles matches to go along with Sharma’s victory to notch a 5-2 win and advance into the May 7 semifinals. Valor Christian will be Creek’s semifinal opponent as the Bruins attempt to capture their seventh straight state title. Creek has won 39 girls state tennis titles overall.
