Danville JROTC archery team places at nationals
DANVILLE, Ill. — The Danville JROTC Archery Team is proud to announce their accomplishments this year, culminating in the team qualifying for, and competing in, this year’s State and National tournaments.

At the national level, the competition was a highly competitive contest pitting the nation’s best in JROTC archery programs against one another in the beautiful State of Utah. The Western National JROTC Archery tournament is arranged in two-categories: Bullseye & IBO-3D. Danville’s archery team placed 4th in the Bullseye competition and achieved 2nd Place in the IBO-3D.
The competition took place on April 26 at the Mountain America Arena in Sandy, UT. We were the only team to place TOP 5 in the nation in both categories.

Some of the individual accomplishments are as follows: Cadet Alli Rodgers, team captain, was named tournament’s Overall Best Archer in the nation which combined her Bullseye (276) & IBO-3D (281) scores for a total of 557 points. She also recorded the tournament’s highest score in the IBO-3D tournament of 281 points, and was a TOP 10 archer, Number 3, with a score of 284, in the CenterShot Bullseye tournament. The CenterShot tournament is the civilian public-school tournament open to all high schools in the nation.

There were three other archers who went above and beyond the call of duty which impacted Danville High School’s chances of success. They were Robert Miller, Olivia Scaggs, and Christian Bryant.
Robert posted a score of 270, earning him a 9th place finish in the CenterShot Tournament, and Olivia shot a 265, earning her 4th place in the CenterShot tournament. Christian earned his first ever competition Perfect Score of 50 at Ten Meters.

Honorable mention members on the team who are worthy of recognition are: Cadet Wyatt Bradshaw, Cadet Toryn Burks, Cadet Kyna & Kyndal Corley, Cadet Apache Johnson, Cadet Jack Jones, Cadet Robert Miller, Cadet Hannah Mullis, Cadet Mareli Ocampo, and Cadet Jace Vasquez.
I would also like to thank our coaches and parents for their support throughout this long season. I’m very proud of the team’s hard work, dedication, and tireless efforts in achieving this year’s goals. The team took pride and are proud to represent Danville High School and the surrounding Danville Community – “Go Vikings.”
