Baseball Drops Series Opener to Calvin, Honors 11 Seniors and Two Long-Time Assistant Coaches

The Hope College baseball team dropped the series opener to Calvin University, 8-4, on Thursday at Boeve Stadium. After the game, head coach Stu Fritz honored 11 seniors and two long-time assistant coaches: associate head coach Chad Ruby and pitching coach Rick Huisman. The loss knocked Hope (19-17, 12-7 MIAA) out of contention for a share of the league title. The Flying Dutchmen have clinched a postseason berth and could host an MIAA Tournament first-round game next week but need to sweep of the doubleheader at Calvin on Friday, May 3, at 1 p.m. to have a chance for that.…
