Lincoln Southwest reaches state tournament for first time since 2018 in wild A-6 district
A marathon at Sherman Field turned into pandemonium Saturday. Lincoln Southwest held off a resilient Bellevue East squad 8-7 to win the A-6 district championship for its 10th state tournament appearance and first since 2018. A 4 p.m. original start time for the district championship had to wait nearly two hours after the Chieftains won a 5-4, 15-inning affair over Grand Island to reach the district championship against the Silver Hawks. Bellevue East's well-warmed bats quickly took a 3-0 lead off a throwing error from Lincoln Southwest's Landon Sandy, but the Lincoln Southwest catcher had redemption in the tank. A...
