Stangel, Bird Lead MSU at Maverick Open #2

MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State University women's outdoor track and field hosted the Maverick Open #2 at the Mark Schuck Outdoor Track & Field Complex Saturday. Hope Stangel posted an impressive mark in pole vault and Lauren Bird excelled in hammer throw for the Mavericks, who finished first in team rankings ahead of Sioux Falls, St. Cloud State, Gustavus Adolphus and Winona State. Stangel's first place pole vault mark was 3.72m (12'2.50"), just off her season best 3.77m (12'4.5") set at the Drake Alternative meet.
