BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Mercer (24-22, 5-9 SoCon) hit three home runs early but could not muster up the same power after a three-hour weather delay and lost to Samford (31-16, 12-3 SoCon) 12-5 on Saturday. Mercer went through eight pitchers in the game, five of them in the last three innings after the break.
