Pickens wins Hawkeye 10 Golf title
It was a historic day for the Shenandoah girls golf team, Monday, May 6, at the Glenwood Golf Course. Fillies freshman Sarah Pickens won the Hawkeye 10 Conference Girls Golf Tournament, beating Red Oak’s Brynn Knaus in a playoff to take the championship. Pickens’ title is the first conference golf championship for a Shenandoah girl since Alex Curry won consecutive titles in 2008 and 2009. Pickens posted an 87, even with Knaus for medalist honors, and two strokes ahead of Harlan’s Macy Mueller.
