FEMALE VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Alwardt led AR on its deepest playoff run yet

Ashley Ridge senior Samantha Alwardt is the seventh annual Best of Prep Sports Female Volleyball of the Year. Alwardt was the team’s Libero, but made an impact all over the court. A team captain, she finished the season with a 92.3 percent serving percentage, 44 aces and 401 digs. She was named the Region 7-AAAAA Volleyball Player of the Year and received both All-State and All-Star honors. She participated in both in the South Carolina Association of Women’s Sports North-South All-star Series and in the first annual Lowcountry All-Star Volleyball Game.
