Local Briefs for Thursday: Grundy’s Looney added to Pappy Thompson nominee list; District 1-AAA softball moved to Thursday; Bristol Rhythm to host “Meet the Players” event on Friday

A four-sport participate in football, basketball, baseball and track & field, Looney will graduate with an advanced diploma with a 3.92 grade point average. He also will graduate with 54 dual enrollment credit hours from Southwest Virginia Community College, making the Dean’s List in each semester. He is involved in numerous school activities, including the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Plant the Moon Challenge associated with NASA, Student Council Association and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
