Top 10 NASCAR throwback paint schemes for 2024 Darlington race
Chase Elliott, No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet
The No. 9 car will probably be one of the favorite throwback schemes of the weekend as one of NASCAR’s current fan-favorites, Elliott will drive a car that looks awfully similar to the No. 88 that was driven by one of NASCAR’s all-time most popular drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Specifically, the scheme on the No. 9 will replicate that of Earnhardt Jr.’s car when he won the 2014 Daytona 500. Sunday’s race at Darlington won’t quite have the same stakes, but it will give Elliott a chance to continue a recent hot streak that includes five top-five finishes in the past six races highlighted by his first win since 2022.
