As he looks towards the future, Kevin anticipates continuing to play lacrosse by joining a club team in college.
Congrats, Kevin!
Interview with Kevin:
What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?
Kevin Brown: I try to focus on the present – the upcoming practice or game. But, I can’t help but believe in our team and truly think we can go far in the playoffs, all the way to becoming State Champs. As for a personal goal, I just want to help our team in any way I can.
What do you love about your sport?
Brown: The pace of the game – it’s the fastest-paced game on feet. In addition, lacrosse combines strategy, aggression, and finesse all in one sport, making it super fun to watch and play.

What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?
Brown: Knowing when to shoot and where. Because I have played various positions throughout my lacrosse career, I haven’t dedicated as much time to mastering any single role and, therefore, feel that I am a little behind on some things. To make up for this, I always hit the wall and shoot whenever I have free time.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Brown: Our coach often tells the team that we always need to ‘pull the rope.’ If the whole team isn’t pulling the rope, the rope is flimsy and weak. However, if we all are pulling in the same direction, on the same path, and with the same goal, we are stronger.
Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Brown: Lately, I have found myself praying before games in hopes that no one gets hurt, because it’s something you never want to see. I also have a tendency to blast music in my ears and envision what I want to do on the field.
Describe a mistake you made while competing and how you overcame it.
Brown: Once, when I was losing the ball a lot and struggled with passing, my coach had a talk with me in front of the whole team. This moment was so defining for me. Whenever I had free time and in the offseason, I worked on the skills needed to never have these issues again.
What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Brown: I love hanging out with my friends. When at home, I enjoy playing video games and watching live sports.
What has being a member of a team taught you?
Brown: Being on the lacrosse team has taught me many things that extend beyond the field into my day-to-day life, including being coachable. Just being able to take in knowledge or learn something in a new way is so helpful in all aspects of life.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Brown: In Boston, there aren’t many lacrosse teams, and so I feel privileged to have been able to learn and play lacrosse. In the future, I want to be able to share the sport with friends and younger kids and help diversify the sport of lacrosse, making it more popular within Boston and Massachusetts.
