Three outs were all that separated the John Paul II softball team from a third trip to the TAPPS Division I state championship game and another meeting with fellow powerhouse San Antonio Antonian, but Houston St. Agnes had other plans. The Lady Cardinals' pursuit of a second straight state title was stymied behind a seventh-inning rally by St. Agnes, who overtook John Paul for a 2-1 win on Monday from the University of Texas at Arlington's Allan Saxe Field.
