Bickerstaff took over as interim head coach for the Cavs in 2020 following the departure of John Beilein and went 170-159 overall during his time in Cleveland. After enduring a bit of a rebuild in his first couple of years as the Cavaliers’ head coach, Bickerstaff led the franchise to 99 regular-season wins over the past two seasons and back-to-back playoff appearances, which included the franchise’s first postseason series win without LeBron James since 1993 in 2024.
Despite the recent success, a 4-1 series loss to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals seemed to spell the end for Bickerstaff. Now, the Cavs will look for a new voice who they hope can take the team deeper into the playoffs in what could be an interesting offseason with the uncertainty surrounding Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland.
