What a 2024 U.S. Open win would mean for top betting favorites

Unlike most of the betting favorites at this year’s U.S. Open, Hovland is still looking for his first major win and that’s what makes the week so important for him. To earn that victory at just 26 years old would be highly impressive and would firmly establish him in the same tier as players like Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa. Hovland has looked incredibly close to breaking through for a major title in recent years, finishing tied for fourth in the 2022 Open Championship before tying for seventh at the 2023 Masters and placing in the top three at both the 2023 and 2024 PGA Championships. He also finished in the top 20 at last year’s U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club. The last five U.S. Open champions have been first-time major winners, a streak Hovland will hope to extend at Pinehurst.
