It might only be a matter of time before the Spurs start contending again behind 2023 No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama, and holding the No. 4 and No. 8 picks in this year’s draft should allow them to land a couple of additional playmakers to put around their prized 7-foot-4 center. Despite winning just 22 games this past season, San Antonio showed a lot of promise with a young core that not only includes Wembanyama, but several other talented players like Tre Jones, Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan. However, it’s likely the Spurs will look to upgrade on the wing to put more shooters around Wembanyama and Knecht could fit the bill if he’s available at No. 8.
