WAXHAW, N.C. — A Q&A with Aditya Saha who is a soccer player for the Marvin Ridge Mavericks.

Team/s: Marvin Ridge High School Varsity Soccer

Clubs: WCWAA :2017 to 2021 and 2023 to present, MLS next 2021-2023, Charlotte Eagles USL: 2023 till present

What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?

Aditya Saha: My personal goal for my sport is to win the state title with my school and my Club.

What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?

Saha: I think the main challenge is discipline. Eating the right food, super hydration, work on the right muscles and always be on time. My passion in soccer keeps me going and my body tells me what is right for staying fit.

What was the best advice you were ever given?

Saha: The best advice I have ever received is that if you work hard, you will get what you want.

What do you love about your sport?

Saha: I love everything about soccer. It’s an intense sport that has great team spirit. Each player has a unique role. Soccer is fast and entertaining and I’ve made great friends. It has taught me discipline, leadership skills, patience, hard work and never to lose hope.

Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?

Saha: I pray before each game and hydrate myself.

What do you like to do outside of your sport?

Saha: I love watching matches, especially cheering for my favorite Premier League team, Chelsea. Attending Charlotte FC Games at BOA Stadium is always a treat. This summer, I’m thrilled to be traveling to Germany with my Dad to experience Euro 2024. When it’s time to unwind, playing FIFA is my go-to relaxation method. And of course, I religiously hit the gym to stay in top shape. I can’t wait for the upcoming soccer adventures

What has being a member of a team taught you?

Saha: You have to not only work hard for yourself but for the team. Prioritizing wins for the team is the key.

Describe a mistake you made while competing and how you overcame it.

Saha: I made many mistakes, like giving up the ball and letting the other team score but I overcame it by just not letting it get on my mind and doing better the next time.

Personal Highlight: I have created my own rec 7V7 team, that plays over the off season, in summer!
