Jazz Chisholm Jr. on the trade block?: 5 landing spots

Los Angeles Dodgers

The trade: The Dodgers acquire Chisholm Jr.. The Marlins acquire Dalton Rushing and River Ryan.

The Dodgers added plenty this offseason, but it feels like they have one more major move in them. Los Angeles has struggled to put out a complete lineup this year and it could use another impact position player. Chisholm Jr.’s versatility would give the Dodgers a lot of options in how they would want to construct their lineup, especially when Mookie Betts returns from injury. This trade could allow Betts to return to the outfield with Chisholm Jr. taking over a middle-infield spot. There have been noted issues between Chisholm Jr. and Miguel Rojas, so that would have to be sorted out in this situation.

Rushing’s hitting ability is the main attraction in this package. The No. 48 prospect in baseball and the No. 1 prospect in Los Angeles’ system has a .845 OPS in AA this season. The only issue with the coveted catcher is that he is still a bit raw behind the plate, which could ultimately move him to first base. Ryan has been a great development story as an 11th-round pick by the San Diego Padres out of UNC Pembroke. He was moved to the Dodgers in 2022 in a deal for Matt Beaty. He has skyrocketed since then, but he has missed a large chunk of time this season due to shoulder fatigue. Ryan is 25 years old and is at the AAA level.
