Los Angeles HS football stars who became NFL Hall of Famers
Haynes is a nine-time Pro Bowler, a Super Bowl champion and an NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. As a cornerback/defensive back, he recorded 46 career interceptions, totaling 688 yards in interception returns and returning two interceptions for touchdowns.
Haynes played football at John Marshall High School, and in 2012, its stadium was renamed “Mike Haynes Stadium” in his honor. Ironically, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also attended John Marshall High – so perhaps a rename to “Reid-Haynes Stadium” is in order?
These days, Haynes focuses some of his time on educating people on the importance of early cancer screenings. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer when he turned 55, so he wants others to know he’s alive today because of the early detection.
