Ranking the top 10 NFL players from the state of Mississippi

9. Harold Jackson, WR (1968-83)

Jackson was more productive than any pass-catcher for an entire decade.

From 1970-79, his 432 grabs, 7,724 receiving yards, and 61 touchdown catches were all tops in the NFL. Still, the Hattiesburg native is waiting to make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It definitely seems Jackson is deserving of such an honor, being that he retired as the league’s second-leading receiver (10,372 yards).

Jackson paced the league in receiving twice (1969, ’72) and touchdown grabs once (’73). He was a first-team Associated Press (AP) All-Pro for his effort in the latter go-round and made the Pro Bowl five times.
