Alexandria’s Riley Brown: A young man with many talents
ALEXANDRIA, La. — We have always encouraged our kids to try new things. Any sport or activity in which they’ve shown an interest, we have pretty much said yes and found a way to make it work. That means running a kid-taxi service almost every day of the week, but it’s an important part of them figuring things out. Our oldest, Riley, has taken us up on this offer at every turn. In addition to excelling in academics, he has tried his hand at many activities and sports.

Over the years, Riley has played baseball, soccer and basketball, but 2 of his most enduring sports have been swimming and taekwondo. Riley swam with community swim teams, most recently COAST (City of Alexandria Swim Team), since he was 6 years old. He started taekwondo as a toddler and eventually earned a 3rd degree black belt with Master Rousseau’s Taekwondo. Teresa Thomason has been teaching him piano since he was in first grade, and he continues lessons to this day. And now, as a high school sophomore at Alexandria Country Day School, he has decided to try something new.

Last year, Riley embarked on E-sports and Beta at Alexandria Country Day High School. This year, he continues those endeavors while trying, you guessed it, something new, powerlifting. We are excited to cheer him on. All this while making all A-honor role, being recognized for excellence in Biology, World Geography and being recognized with the Diamond Character Award by his fellow classmates.
His father and I are incredibly proud of the young man he is and is becoming.
