Top 10 Colorado Buffaloes football players of all time
10. Herb Orvis, DE (1969-71)
Orvis led the Buffaloes to three consecutive bowl appearances during his time in Colorado. He left Boulder as the school’s leader in sacks with 20 and remains tied for sixth in that category despite playing just three seasons. Orvis was named a team captain and a first-team All-American in his senior season before embarking on a 10-year NFL career. He joined the College Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
RIP Herb Orvis, a two-time All-Big Eight defensive end at Colorado who was a member of the Buffs’ 1969 Liberty Bowl and 1971 Astro-Bluebonnet-winning teams.
Orvis additionally earned All-American honors at CU as a senior in ‘71. He was 73 years old. pic.twitter.com/sHwxGAvK0E
