NASCAR’s most significant wrecks of the 2024 season
Kyle Larson, Chase Briscoe hit tire barriers in Chicago
The Chicago Street Race has become one of the more entertaining events on the NASCAR schedule and with weather impacting the July race again it saw its fair share of crashes. Despite cars traveling at lower speeds through the road course, there were still some impactful wrecks, including defending race winner Shane van Gisbergen slamming into the wall after making contact with Chase Briscoe whose car nailed the tire barrier. Meanwhile, Larson, who was running in third on lap 34, had his brakes lock up and flew into the tire barrier in turn 6, briefly getting his car stuck. The crash was one of several unfortunate wrecks Larson has had in the second half of the season as he also suffered a violent hit into the wall in Atlanta in September and again a couple of weeks later at Kansas.
