Tony Bennett retires; Who will be Virginia’s next coach?
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (BVM) – The college basketball world was shocked Thursday when the news broke of Virginia head coach Tony Bennett’s retirement. The 55-year-old spent 15 seasons in Charlottesville, accumulating a 364-136 record, and most notably, a national championship in 2019.
The Cavaliers will have big shoes to fill, and they are putting off the search until the end of the season. Associate head coach Ron Sanchez will step in as the interim coach for 2024-25.
These are some realistic long-term options for Virginia going forward.
