Tallest women’s college basketball players for 2024-25 season

(BVM) – Meet the tallest Division-I women’s college basketball players set to tower over their opponents during the 2024-25 season.

There are about 5,150 NCAA D-I women’s basketball players spread across 362 teams and 31 conferences. Despite such a large pool, only a handful stand out as the tallest in college basketball.

Editor’s note: Official heights per college basketball rosters as of Nov. 4, the official start of the season.

1. Abbie Boutilier, 6-foot-9

At 6-foot-9, Texas Longhorns sophomore Abbie Boutilier is the tallest women’s college basketball player for the 2024-25 season.

In contrast, the shortest D-I women’s basketball player is Tahnyjia Purifoy, a 5-foot junior guard for the Florida A&M Rattlers.

Boutilier missed her 2023 freshman season due to injury. She made her college debut at the start of the 2024 season and scored a bucket in her first game. Boutilier would make history if she went pro, considering only five WNBA players in history have measured at 6-foot-9 or taller.

T-2. Arek Angui, 6-foot-8

The UCF Knights freshman center started playing basketball only two years ago. She immigrated from South Sudan and played prep at Greenforest High School in Georgia.

“One of the things that excites me about Arek is she’s 6’8”, UCF head coach Sytia Messer said… “It’s been a while since we’ve had someone of her magnitude when it comes to height on our team.”

T-2. Phillipina Kyei, 6-foot-8

The Oregon Ducks senior center is largely predicted to be a top pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. If chosen, she’d become one of the tallest active WNBA players – only trailing behind 6-foot-9 Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner.

Kyei had a breakout junior season last year – starting all 32 games for the Ducks and averaging a double-double with 12.6 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.

T-2. Nene Sow, 6-foot-8

The Utah Utes center is entering her senior season and is hoping to see more time on the court. As a junior, she averaged 1.2 points, 0.6 rebounds, 0.2 blocks, 0.1 assists, and shot 50% from the field in 11 games.

Overall, only four women’s basketball players this season are 6-foot-8 or taller, and an additional 11 players are listed at 6-foot-7. In contrast, the men’s game this season features over 2,000 players who are 6-foot-7 or taller.
