Top 10 women’s college basketball players for the 2024-25 season
2. Paige Bueckers, G, UConn
UConn hasn’t won a national championship since 2016 but it’ll have a chance to return to the top in 2024-25, entering the season ranked No. 2. That’s in part thanks to the return of Bueckers who is in her fifth year in Storrs. The former national player of the year and two-time first-team All-American returned from a devastating knee injury last season and looked better than ever, averaging a career-best 21.9 points – the 12th-best mark in the nation – 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.8 blocks. The 6-foot guard from Minnesota has an efficient offense game, evidenced by her 53% shooting in 2023-24. She can also fill it up from deep, shooting 42.5% from 3-point range during her UConn career. Bueckers is a favorite to claim her second national player of the year award this season alongside a talented supporting cast in Storrs.
