Wiregrass Ranch swimmers finish in top 20 at 3A state championships
OCALA, Fla. — Eleven high school athletes represented Wiregrass Ranch High School during the 2024 Florida High School Swimming & Diving State Championships in Ocala, FL, on November 8, 2024.

In the 200-yard medley relay preliminaries, Abigail Hissa, Sadie Smith, Gianna Trujillo, and Emily Hissa finished at 2:01:29, which ranked them among the top 20 in the championships. The boys showed the 18th result in the same distance, with 1:44:83 as their best time during the preliminaries.

The most experienced swimmer on the team, Abby Hissa, who made it to the States three times, also represented her school in the individual 100-freestyle race.

Alexis Mironova, who returned to diving after a six-year break from sports, competed among the best divers in the Class 3A state championships. Less than three months of intensive training with a former diver and veteran coach Rob Sajdak helped her improve and make it to the 2024 Florida State Championships.

While the outcome left some bittersweet feelings, Bulls swimming and diving head coach Alisa Cimino couldn’t be more proud of her athletes.
With so many talented divers in Florida and the coming 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, CA, it’s time to grow diving and install more springboards in the regional and local pools.
