Paul Goldschmidt’s free agency: 5 possible landing spots
Houston Astros
The Astros rallied following a slow start in 2024 to win a weak AL West and reach the postseason for the eighth consecutive season. However, some important moves may need to be made this offseason for Houston to return to World Series contention. Retaining Alex Bregman likely remains the club’s top priority. Acquiring additional pitching may also be in the plans while adding another power bat or two could be beneficial as well, particularly if Bregman walks. Yainer Diaz can play first base along with catcher, but the Astros may see it as a position to upgrade with 33-year-old Jon Singleton hitting just .234 this past season. Goldschmidt could add more power to the lineup at the very least and may be an affordable chance worth taking for general manager Dana Brown.
