Catholic Central athlete has fancy footwork: Meet Crusaders football player Aryan Bose

LONDON, Ontario — Aryan Bose, an outside linebacker with The Catholic Central High School (CCH) Crusaders Football Team—or number 90 on the field—plays in the Junior Division.

Bose works hard to keep up his fancy footwork on and off the field, dedicating 2 hours after school for practice during football season. Players practice at Kennedy Field in daily sessions that run from the start of September through mid-November. In the off-season, he continues training and engaging in athletic pursuits, like school wrestling. He chooses to play both sports because he enjoys them both. The two sports share many similarities, such as footwork and strength training. Number 90 also enjoys boxing, exercising at the gym and playing video games when he has time.

Bose admits that he underestimated the effort it would take to make the team, but he has learned from that and grown in his skills and focus. His parents are fans, even though they did not grow up playing organized sports. Bose appreciates the encouragement and support he has received from his parents, friends, and coaches. He remembers a wrestling coach saying, “… you can’t control your journey but can control when you start and stop”.

Bose has no intention of stopping anytime soon. He looks forward to playing in the Senior Division next year and plans to continue when he gets to university. Inspiration will not be hard to find; The CCH Crusaders Senior Football won another title at the 2024 WOSSAA Championship in November!
