London marathon enthusiast and fitness instructor Roberto Montes on overcoming obstacles
LONDON, Ontario — London resident Roberto Montes started his fitness journey in 2019 and says, “The commitment to staying active makes me feel, stronger, happy, driven, and motivated… I also feel a sense of accomplishment.”
Montes believes in setting goals to become the best version of himself. He knows that fitness accomplishments can be empowering, and confidence-building, having experienced first-hand how consistently working to attain his fitness goals created pathways for him to overcome adversity in life. This confidence opened up new possibilities, inspiring Montes to go back to school and “… learn to be the one who inspires others.” He gives a shout-out to trainer Bo Parsons who helped him “…understand the importance of giving without expecting something in return.”

Montes enjoys working out and running—both sports where he pushes for his own personal bests. One of his most memorable experiences in fitness was competing in the 4x4x48 Challenge marathon where he ran 90 kilometres over a weekend. Montes says that completing the ultra-marathon made him feel resilient and confident that he would be able to take on any future challenges, in sport, as in life.
Today he loves every opportunity to inspire and coach others to reach their personal best through fitness.
