2. Tom Izzo, Michigan State

Izzo took over for the legendary Jud Heathcote at Michigan State in 1995 after spending 12 years as his assistant in East Lansing and has seen nothing but success over the last three decades. Izzo is a three-time Big Ten Coach of the Year and two-time NABC Coach of the Year who has helped lead MSU to 10 conference titles, six Big Ten tournament championships and eight Final Four appearances, highlighted by a national championship in 2000. The 69-year-old is a living legend of the sport with a 707-295 career record entering 2024-25. The only knock on Izzo currently is his lack of success in the last four years as the Spartans haven’t won more than 11 Big Ten games or more than 23 games overall in a season. Still, the program remains in a good spot and will be a threat in March as long as Izzo is around.
