The Maple Leafs are another contender with a thin defensive core. Simon Benoit and Connor Timmins are the team’s bottom pairing and they will not inspire a lot of confidence in the playoffs. Toronto will likely address this to some extent, but they have a chance to make it a strength with a Trouba addition. Depth is key throughout the hockey season and this type of acquisition would check off that box for the Maple Leafs.
