Ismail Mahdi transferring: 5 possible landing spots
SAN MARCOS, Texas (BVM) – The Texas State Bobcats have emerged as one of the most exciting Group of 5 football programs under head coach G.J. Kinne. Texas State’s offense ranked 14th in FBS in yards per game in 2023 and it was fifth in 2024.
One of the reasons why is because of star running back Ismail Mahdi.
The 5-foot-9, Murphy, Texas, native led the country in all-purpose yards (2,169) in 2023 and was an All-American. He was not as good this season, but he was still a first-team all-conference player.
Mahdi announced his decision on Monday to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
