Pelicans may be ‘shopping’ Zion Williamson: 5 landing spots

The Mavericks were perhaps one piece away from winning the NBA Finals last season and figure to be in contention for a championship again as a top-five team in the West. Dallas made a notable free-agent addition with Klay Thompson in the offseason who has been solid alongside superstars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. However, if healthy, a player like Williamson could ultimately be what the Mavs need to get over the hump as he could help draw defensive attention away from Doncic and Irving while providing another physical presence down low. Ultimately, a deal would likely come down to Dallas seeing Williamson as a potential upgrade on P.J. Washington or Daniel Gafford. With Dereck Lively II in the fold, dealing Gafford and a future first-round pick could be worth the star power that Williamson provides.
