What do you love about your sport?

Kate Sheridan: I love that basketball can take your mind off of anything. No matter what happened before a practice or game, when you step onto the court, you can forget about it and just play.

What has being a member of a team taught you?

Sheridan: Being a team member has taught me trust. I need to trust my teammates for both myself and them to succeed.

Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?

Sheridan: Before games, I always have my most recently made playlist playing in my airpods while stretching and shooting around before games.

What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?

Sheridan: The biggest challenge in basketball is that everyone has to work together all the time. If one person on the court isn’t fully focused, then the whole team could suffer. To manage this challenge my teammates and I try to get everyone to focus during breaks in the game such as time outs or breaks after quarters.

Sheridan: The best piece of advice I’ve gotten from a coach or mentor is from my Dad. He always tells me to be confident in who I am as a person and player no matter what other people have to say.

What do you like to do outside of your sport?

Sheridan: Outside of my sport I like to hang out with my friends, try new places to eat, and go shopping.
