Top 10 NCAA softball players entering the 2025 season
2. Reese Atwood, C, Texas
Texas enters the season as a favorite to win it all thanks to a potent lineup led by Atwood. The 6-foot junior catcher was arguably the top player in college softball as a sophomore, earning first-team All-American honors while also being named Big 12 Player of the Year and Softball America Player of the Year. Atwood led Texas in multiple statistical categories in 2024, including batting average (.423) and OPS (1.362). Atwood’s 23 home runs were the sixth-most in the country and a single-season record for the Longhorns. Her 90 RBIs also led the nation, while Atwood set additional Texas single-season records in total bases (163) and slugging percentage (.862). Atwood should be a player of the year favorite in 2025 competing alongside other potential All-Americans like Mia Scott, Kayden Henry, Katie Stewart and Teagan Kavan.
