Ranking the 10 greatest Orlando Magic players of all time
10. Hedo Türkoglu, SF (2004-09, 2010-13)
When the Magic signed Türkoglu in 2004, Orlando fans didn’t expect much of him. That contingent was much more excited about the recent drafting of No. 1 overall pick and then-teenager Dwight Howard.
Türkoglu’s role grew during each of his first three seasons with the Magic, but Stan Van Gundy’s hiring as coach helped Türkoglu reach his full playmaking potential. For the 2007-08 go-round, he was named the league’s Most Improved Player, averaging a career-high 19.5 points to go with 5.0 rebounds.
Türkoglu is also remembered for playing up to the moment during the following season’s postseason. Orlando reached the Finals that year, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in five games.
