Fran McCaffery fired: 5 Iowa basketball coaching candidates
IOWA CITY, Iowa (BVM) – Fran McCaffery accepted the Iowa Hawkeyes’ head-coaching position in 2010 and lasted 15 seasons with the program before being fired Friday. The 65-year-old had a 297-206 record at Iowa and never made it out of the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.
The Hawkeyes’ job will be interesting to some candidates, especially those with ties to the area. Athletic director Beth Goetz will conduct Iowa basketball’s third head-coaching search since 2000.
These are the candidates who make the most sense for the program.
