The Beaumont, Texas native began his collegiate career with the Washington Huskies, in part to play under his cousin and former NBA player Quincy Pondexter, who was serving as an assistant coach. However, a foot injury sidelined Yates for his entire freshman season. He then transferred to USC to follow Pondexter, who had taken the same role with the Trojans, and went on to have a breakout year. Yates averaged 14.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting an impressive 43.9% from 3-point range.
Despite his standout season with the Trojans, Yates has elected to enter the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining. Here are five programs that could add the rising star.
