Top 10 women’s college basketball teams for the 2025-26 season
2. UConn Huskies
UConn can never be counted out under Geno Auriemma, even while suffering arguably the biggest loss in women’s college basketball this offseason with Paige Bueckers off to the WNBA. Key role players like Kaitlyn Chen and Aubrey Griffin are also out of eligibility, but the Huskies will return a strong core that will be boosted further by Azzi Fudd’s return. Sarah Strong, who averaged 16.4 points and 8.9 rebounds as a freshman, will take over as the main star of Auriemma’s squad, while young players like Ashlynn Shade, KK Arnold, Ice Brady and Jana El Alfy should be ready to take on larger roles. Incoming freshman Kelis Fisher could also play a role in her first season. With an abundance of talent yet again and a legendary coach, UConn remains as good of a bet as any to win it all again in 2026.
