Centerville HS softball celebrates the season
DAYTON, Ohio — This year’s Centerville High School (CHS) varsity softball team is filled with all sorts of stories:
- Twins playing for each other
- Sisters playing varsity together for the first time
- A senior doing well, after returning from a serious injury
- A senior dedicating her season to her cousin who passed away recently
While our goals remain the same—winning GWOC (Greater Western Ohio Conference) and going to Akron to win state—we are playing the season a little differently this year. Our girls know there are so many reasons to play that are greater than wins and losses. This season we are choosing to focus on what’s most important.
A Season to Grow
We are proud to continue our facility upgrades. During Phase 1, completed a few years ago, we demolished our dugouts and backstop. We added new dugouts and fencing, creating a beautiful new look for the facility. We then resurfaced our entire infield, to improve play and help reduce rainouts.
We have officially moved on to Phase 2 of the project: adding permanent wraparound bleachers that give us a stadium feel, which is very cool! A new concession stand and press box are on deck, once the season ends.
A Season to Inspire
This year we are playing to inspire others. Every player has someone specific whom she is wanting to play for and uplift. As a team we all are trying to inspire the youth in Centerville to want to play the game and follow the path that the CHS girls are currently on. This is our season of inspiration.
