Coming off four consecutive district championships, the Liberty North Eagles ended the 2024 season with a 3-point loss to state semifinalist Liberty in district play. However, the adversity and close losses of last season have focused the Eagles players and coaches on success in the 2025 Season. This team will be talented, returning nine All-Conference players. The Eagles have all the potential to be a dynamic, aggressive, fast, and disciplined team. Narrow is the way that leads to post-season success, especially in Class 6 football, but if there is a program that knows how to find the way, it is the Liberty North Eagles and Coach Andy Lierman, who has had a 31-6 record as Head Coach, and a Class 6 state championship in 2023.
“We’ve got some guys that not many people know about, developing the shadows a little bit,” says Lierman. “You have to stay healthy, and the ball has got to bounce your way a little bit, but I think overall, the talent is there. We’re just going to have to put it all together.”

The Eagles’ offense looks to be explosive, and that starts with the quarterback, senior Isaac Hamilton, the 6-foot-3,190-pounder who played at wide receiver last season. In the Spring, he ran the sixth fastest time in Missouri in the 110m high hurdles, with an outstanding 14.16. Hamilton will be a dangerous dual-threat QB. With a 39-inch vertical jump and all kinds of athletic ability, look for big plays from Hamilton.
“We have a great receiving corps,” says Hamilton. “I’m very excited about my receivers. And we have great guys on the line. Two things I’ve been super happy about in summer training. Over the last couple of years, Tillman was our quarterback, and he is more of a ‘Tom Brady’ drop-back, throw-it type of quarterback. I’m a runner, and I can throw it. But I for sure will be using my legs.”
There are playmakers everywhere on the Eagles, including senior Trashundon Neal. At 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, Neal has college offers from many colleges, including North Dakota State, SEMO, Lindenwood, Central Arkansas, Southern Illinois, and Western Illinois. He only played five games at wide receiver last season and earned All-Conference honors on offense. He also plays corner on defense and was All-Conference at that position as well. Neal is dynamic; he can run, jump, cover, and has a high football IQ. He will likely play both ways this season.
Another playmaker is running back Zemar Cheatam. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound All-Conference back and free safety can make opponents miss and bust big runs. He possesses the agility to create space and is explosive, boasting excellent speed and power.
Senior All-Conference wide receiver, Terrieck Gregory, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, had 15 receptions for 213 yards in 2024, with three touchdowns and 14.6 yards per touch. He can identify weak areas in zone coverages and create significant plays. His footwork is sharp and dynamic. Expect the Eagles to rely on him for substantial contributions in 2025.
Another hard-working playmaker is senior Preston Cook, a tight end on offense and defensive end, at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds. He is a 4.0 GPA student who can deadlift over 600 pounds. He is disruptive off the edge on defense, and he boasts a vertical leap of over 35 inches. He has been timed at 4.8 seconds in the 40-yard dash. All-Conference Christian Wood, who plays guard and defensive tackle, is back. At 6-foot-3, 270 pounds, Wood has been clocked at 4.81 in the 40. In the Spring, he competes in the discus and shot put for the Eagles and has qualified for the state meet in the discus.
Hard-working 4.0 GPA student Derrick Davis was an All-Conference selection last season at defensive line. Davis is an NSDA Academic All-American with multiple college offers. He is an All-State and All-Region thespian debate speaker. At 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, Davis missed part of last season with an injury. On the field, Davis can consistently play against the run and handles double teams well. He has great power moves and provides an excellent pass rush.
“He’s going to change our game,” says Coach Lierman. “He’s a huge part of what we do. He is a leader on our football team, and he keeps our players accountable and does all the right things, and I can be more excited about getting him back.”
With a dynamic, talented roster and a focused mindset, the Liberty North Eagles are poised to make a significant impact in the 2025 season. If they can harness their potential and overcome challenges, the Eagles could emerge as strong contenders for postseason success.
