Meet Weston lacrosse player Theodore (Teddy) Dreyer

WESTON, Mass. — Theodore (Teddy) Dreyer (17) excels in both lacrosse and golf. He developed a passion for lacrosse at a young age, inspired by his father who played the sport growing up. While he previously played club lacrosse, he now focuses his efforts on Weston’s varsity lacrosse team, with hopes of playing in college. Teddy’s strong stick skills, precise passing, and high game IQ have made him a key contributor to the team. His dedication and sportsmanship were recognized with an honorable mention DCL All-Star selection, as well as the McCrae Williams Love of the Game award, which honors players who exemplify respect and teamwork.

This season, Teddy helped the lacrosse team to an impressive 14-2 regular season record. The team captured the DCL Foley Championship and earned the #2 seed in the MIAA tournament, ultimately falling in a hard-fought 8-7 battle in the Elite 8 round.

In addition to lacrosse, Teddy has also been a vital part of Weston’s highly successful golf program. He contributed to back-to-back D3 North Golf Championships in 2023 and 2024 and the team’s 2023 D3 State Championship victory.

Congrats, Teddy!

Interview with Teddy:

What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?

Teddy Dreyer: To be the best lacrosse player I can be.

What do you love about your sport?

Dreyer: What I love about lacrosse is the fast-paced, unpredictable nature of the game and how every play brings a new opportunity to try something new on the field. Playing the game is always exciting and intense.

What was the best advice you were ever given?

Dreyer: My dad always tells me to just believe in myself and good things will happen. These words help me focus and play my game when I am struggling to do so.

How do you prepare yourself mentally or physically for games?

Dreyer: I don’t have any rituals or specific things. For me, once I get my gear on and head up to the field, I am locked in and ready to play.

What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage it?

Dreyer: I don’t like to make mistakes, which can sometimes make me hesitate when faced with a difficult or risky shot. However, to get the confidence to take those harder shots when it matters, I constantly practice for difficult moments like those so I feel prepared and comfortable executing them during a game.

What has being a member of a team taught you?

Dreyer: To trust and communicate with others in order to succeed. I’ve learned how important it is to support others, stay accountable, and work towards one common goal.
