UMass Hockey Alumnus Cale Makar Earns Silver With Canada At Olympic Games
MILAN, Italy – University of Massachusetts hockey alumnus Cale Makar has earned silver with Team Canada at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics after scoring Canada's lone goal in the Gold Medal game on Sunday. Makar becomes the second former Minuteman to medal in ice hockey, joining Jonathan Quick who took home silver with Team USA in 2010 at the Vancouver Games. Makar served as an alternate captain in Milano Cortina, his first Olympic games. He finished with six points on two goals and four assists in six contests.
