Whitefish Bay holds off Beaver Dam for first WIAA girls basketball title
ASHWAUBENON – For the first time in nine trips to the WIAA state girls basketball tournament, the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes are state champions. The Blue Dukes defeated No. 4 seed Beaver Dam 64-63 in the Division 2 title game with the defensive stop of the decade inside the final five seconds. They had led by as many as 17 points (47-30) in the second half before Beaver Dam used a 22-4 run in a four-plus-minute span to claw its way back into the game.
