The Wolverines played strong throughout the match, maintaining possession and creating several scoring opportunities. With eight minutes remaining, Pieper netted the game’s only goal to secure its first state soccer championship. Wakeland, competing for its sixth state title, extended its record streak with a tenth championship appearance.
