Blue Jays acquire catcher Willie MacIver in trade with Rangers

With Alejandro Kirk still injured, the Toronto Blue Jays are adding catcher depth. The Blue Jays have acquired Willie Maclver from the Texas Rangers in exchange for cash considerations, the team announced on Friday. The 29-year-old has been optioned to triple-A. MacIver was claimed off waivers by the Rangers on Nov. 5, 2025 but he spent the beginning of this season in triple-A.
